Let all the Just with one Consent

Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Psalm 33 Lyrics: 1 Let all the Just with one Consent, To GOD their chearful Voices raise; For well the Righteous it becomes To sing before him Songs of Praise. 2 Let Harps and Psalteries and Lutes At once in joyful Concert meet; And new-made Songs of loud Applause, The heav'nly Harmony complete. 3 For faithful is the Word of GOD, His wond'rous Works with Truth abound; He Justice loves, and all the Earth Is with his tender Mercy crown'd. 4 By his Almighty Word, at first, The glorious Arch of Heav'n was rear'd; And all the beauteous Hosts of Light, At his Command at once appear'd. 5 The swelling Floods, together roll'd, He makes in mountain Heaps to lie; And lays, as in a Store-house strong, His wat'ry Treasures safely by. 6 Let Earth, and all that dwell therein, Before his Presence trembling stand; For when he spake the Word, 'twas done, 'Twas fix'd by his supreme Command. 7 He, when the Heathen closely plot, Their secret Counsels undermines; His Wisdom ineffectual makes, The foolish Peopl'es rash Designs. 8 Whate'er the mighty LORD decrees, Shall doubtless stand for ever sure; The settled Purpose of his Heart To endless Ages shall endure. Part II 9 How happy then, are they, to whom The LORD supreme, for GOD is known; Whom he, from all the World besides, Has chosen out to be his own! 10 He all the Nations of the Earth, From Heav'n his lofty Throne surveys; He views their Works, and knows their Thoughts, For by his Pow'r their Hearts were made. 11 No King is safe by num'rous Hosts, Their boasted Strength the Strong deceives; No manag'd Horse by Force or Speed, His gallant war-like Rider saves. 12 'Tis GOD, who those that trust in him, Beholds with ever gracious Eyes; He frees their Souls from Death; their Wants, In Times of Famine, he supplies. 13 Our Souls on GOD with Patience, wait, Our Help and only Shield is he; Then, LORD, let still our Hearts rejoice, Because our Trust is plac'd in thee! 14 The Riches of thy Mercy, LORD,, To us, thy Servants still extend! As we, for all our various wants, On thee, our GOD, alone depend. Topics: Songs of Praise to God the Creation and Providence Used With Tune: [Let all the just with one consent]

O Lord, rebuke me not in Wrath

Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Psalm 33 Lyrics: 1. O Lord, rebuke me not in Wrath; Nor, in thy Rage, chastise. 2. Thine Arrows stick in me; thy Hand Sore pressing on me lies. 3. Thine Anger's Heat consumes my Flesh, And leaves no Soundness there; My Bones are pain'd, and find no Rest, While all my Sins appear. 4. For o'er my Head, my Sins have rowl'd, They're a vast Burden grown; I Cannot bear their Punishment, Nor their least Guilt atone. 5. My Foolishness hath made my Wounds, Stench, and Corruption, grow. 6. Distress'd in Mind, and much bow'd down, I all Day mourning go. 7. A violent Heat has seis'd my Loins; And spread thro' ev'ry Part. 8. I'm feeble, broken sore, and roar, Thro' Anguish of my Heart. 9. All my Desire, and Groans, O Lord, To Thee are fully known. 1O. My Heart's perplex'd, my Strength doth fail; Mine Eye-Sight's from me gone. Second Part 11. Friends, and Companions, stand aloof, To see my wretched Plight; My Kinsmen stand far off, and gaze, At such a dismal Sight. 11. Then they, who hunted for my Life, Their Snares for me did lay; And they, that fought my Hurt, spread Lies, And fram'd Deceit all Day. 13. But, as one deaf, I did not hear; As dumb, my Tongue was ty'd: 14. Thus, as if quite bereft of Sense, I never once reply'd. 15. For in the Lord I trust; my God Will answer when I call. 16. Hear me, (I said,) lest they insult, And triumph when I fall. 17. For I am prone to halt; whilst Grief Thus constant preys within. 18. To Thee, Lord, I'll confess my Fault; With Sorrow for my Sin. 19. Mean while my Foes are lively grown, Encreas'd in Strength and Pride; They, that injuriosly me hate, Are greatly multiply'd. 20. And they that Ill for Good reward, A base ingratefull Crew, Are now my Adversaries turn'd; Because I Good pursue. 21. Forsake me not, O Lord; nor far, My God, from me depart. 22. Make hast to rescue me; for thou, Lord, my Salvation art.

Ye just in God rejoice

Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Psalm 33 Lyrics: 1 Ye just in God rejoyce, Praise well th' upright doth suit. 2 Praise God with harp, with psalt'ry sing To him on ten string'd lute. 3 A new song sing to him, aloud play skilfully: 4 Because Jehovah's word is right, His works all verity. 5 He loveth righteousness, And also equity, The earth is fully furnish'd with The Lord's benignity. 6 For by jehovah's word The heavens had their frame; And by th' spirit of his mouth, All th' armies of the same. 7 The waters of the sea He gathers as a heap: Together as in store-houses He layeth up the deep. 8 All men throughout the earth, Let them Jehovah fear; Let all the dwellers of the world Unto him rev'rence bear. 9 Because he did but speak The word, and it was made; He did give out commandement, And it was firmly staid. 10 The Lord doth bring to night The heathen counsel wise; He makes to be of none effect What people do devise. 11 The counsel of the Lord Abide for ever shall: The cogitations of his heart To generations all. [2] 12 O blessed nation, Whose God Jehovah is; And people whom for heritage He chosen hat for his. 13 The Lord from heaven looks, All sons of men views well 14 Look from his dwelling place doth he To all on earth that dwell. 15 The hearts of every one Alike he doth them frame, And all their operations He well doth mind the same. 16 By multitude of hosts No king himself doth save, Nor yet by multitude of strength They strong deliverance have. 17 A horse a vain thing is to be a saviour; Nor shall he work deliverance By greatness of his pow'r. 18 On them that do him fear, Lo is Jehovah's eye, Upon them that do place their hope On his benignity. 19 To save alive in death, Their soul from death to free. 20 Our soul doth for Jehovah wait; Our help and shield is he. 21 For our heart joys in him, In's holy name trust we: Thy mercy Lord, let be on us Like as we trust in thee.

O truly is the nation blest

The LORD God from His Throne on High

Author: Marie J. Post Meter: 8.8.6.8.8.6 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Psalm 33 Lyrics: 1 The LORD God from his throne on high looks down with clear and searching eye on all that dwell below; and he that fashioned heart and mind looks ever down on human-kind, their hearts and minds to know. Not human strength or mighty hosts, not charging steeds or warlike boasts can save from overthrow; but God will save from death and shame all those who fear and trust his name, and they no want shall know. 2 God's eye is on all those who fear; to those who hope, the LORD is near, according to his Word. Death cannot touch those in his hand, nor famine conquer in the land; we wait upon the LORD. In God our hope is firm and sure, who makes the joyful heart secure, our helper strong and true. Our trust is in your holy name; your mercy, LORD, in faith we claim, as we have hoped in you.
