Christ is alive! Let Christians sing

Author: Brian Wren (b. 1936) Hymnal: AM2013 #199 (2013) Meter: 8.8.8.8 Lyrics: 1 Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. The cross stands empty to the sky. Let streets and homes with praises ring. Love, drowned in death, shall never die. 2 Christ is alive! No longer bound to distant years in Palestine, but saving, healing, here and now, and touching every place and time. 3 In every insult, rift and war, where colour, scorn or wealth divide, Christ suffers still, yet loves the more, and lives, where even hope has died. 4 Women and men, in age and youth, can feel the Spirit, hear the call, and find the way, the life, the truth, revealed in Jesus, freed for all. 5 Christ is alive, and comes to bring good news to this and every age, till earth and sky and ocean ring with joy, with justice, love and praise. Topics: Church Year Easter; Discipleship; Easter; International relations; Justice; Social Concern; The Second Sunday of Easter Year C; Justice and Peace Scripture: Matthew 28 Languages: English Tune Title: TRURO

Christ is our corner-stone

Author: John Chandler (1806-1876) Hymnal: AM2013 #608 (2013) Meter: 6.6.6.6.4.4.4.4 Lyrics: 1 Christ is our corner-stone, on him alone we build; with his true saints alone the courts of heaven are filled: on his great love our hopes we place of present grace and joys above. 2 O then with hymns of praise these hallowed courts shall ring; our voices we will raise the Three in One to sing; and thus proclaim in joyful song, both loud and long, that glorious name. 3 Here, gracious God, do thou for evermore draw nigh; accept each faithful vow, and mark each suppliant sigh; in copious shower on all who pray each holy day thy blessings pour. 4 Here may we gain from heaven the grace which we implore; and may that grace, once given, be with us evermore, until that day when all the blest to endless rest are called away.
