"For ever with the Lord!"

Author: J. Montgomery, 1771-1854 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #562 (1917) Lyrics: 1 "For ever with the Lord!" Amen! so let it be! Life from the dead is in that word, 'Tis immortality! Here is the body pent, Absent from Him I roam, Yet nightly pitch my moving tent A day's march nearer home. 2 My Father's house on high, Home of my soul, how near! At times, to faith's unclouded eye, Thy golden gates appear. Ah! then my spirit faints To reach the land I love The bright inheritance of saints, Jerusalem above! 3 "For ever with the Lord!" Father, if 'tis Thy will, The promise of that faithful word Even here to me fulfil. Be Thou at my right hand, Then can I never fail; Uphold Thou me, and I shall stand; Fight, and I must prevail. 4 So when my latest breath Shall rend the veil in twain, By death I shall escape from death, And life eternal gain. Knowing as I am known, How shall I love that word, And oft repeat before the throne, "For ever with the Lord!" In Every Time and Place

Author: Charles Wesley, 1707-1788 Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #2971 Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1. In every time and place Who serve the Lord most high, Are called His sovereign will to embrace, And still their own deny; To follow His command, On earth as pilgrims rove, And seek an undiscovered land, And house, and friends above. 2. Father, the narrow path To that far country show; And in the steps of Abraham’s faith Enable me to go, A cheerful sojourner Where’er Thou bidd’st me roam, Till, guided by Thy Spirit here, I reach my heavenly home. Above Yon Clear Blue Sky

Author: Mary Bourdillon, 1849-1952 Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #19 Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1. Above yon clear blue sky, Beyond our feeble sight, The God of glory dwells on high In everlasting light. Around His glorious throne The holy angels stand; In songs of praise their king they own, Or fly at His command. 2. And we may praise Him, too, And serve Him here below; He stoops to mark what children do, Their inmost thoughts to know; And though He reigns above, Where angels ceaseless praise, He will accept our humble love, And lead us in His ways. 3. O may we humbly seek To do His holy will, And try, with thankful hearts and meek, To sing His praises still; And then for Jesus’ sake, Who came for us to die, Our happy spirits He will take To praise Him in the sky.
