According to an article in the Narragansett Times of July 20, 1894, "Sprague was to pursue musical studies in Paris." He was organist of Grace Church, Providence, RI, where, in February, 1898, his cantata, The Vision of the Throne, was premiered. The rector's son, William Chauncy Langdon, wrote the text.
