Emily Catherine Clemons [“Clemens” or “Clemmons”] Pearson (1818-1900) Emily Catherine Clemons was an educator, author, poet, and from 1844 to 1845 a “female laborer” exhorting people to be ready for Christ’s impending return. She later continued her writing career as an abolitionist novelist and advocate for Temperance, missions, Sabbath School, and other reforms. She was noted author of numerous hymns.
