We have lit­tle da­ta on Det­ter­er, ex­cept that his trans­la­tions ap­pear in late 19th Cen­tu­ry Mo­ra­vi­an hym­nals. He seems to have been liv­ing in Lake Mills, Wis­con­sin, in 1888, when his son Ernst was born there.
