Scored for Organ, Flute

Suitable for Christmas or Easter, this piece provides diverse treatments of a haunting French carol melody. After stating the theme above an organ pedal point in dotted rhythm, the flute moves to a doubly quick re-statement above syncopated organ chords. In the middle section the tune goes to the organ strings while the flute provides lyrical decoration, after which the flute embroiders the melody above broken chords on the organ flute celeste 8' and 4'. During the final section flute and organ assertively toss the melody back and forth with ever-increasing volume and speed-the flute playing in its top register.
