732. Draw Near and Take the Body of Your Lord

1 Draw near and take the body of your Lord,
And drink with faith the blood for you out-poured.

2 Saved by his body hallowed by his blood,
With souls refreshed we give our thanks to God.

3 Salvation's giver, Christ, the only Son,
By his dear cross and blood the vict'ry won.

4 He--ransomer from death, and light from shade--
Now gives his holy grace his saints to aid.

5 Let us approach with faithful hearts sincere,
And take the pledges of salvation here.

6 The Lord in this world rules his saints, and shields,
To all believers life eternal yields:

7 With heavenly bread makes those who hunger whole,
Gives living waters to the thirsting soul.

8 Before your presence, Lord, all people bow.
In this your feast of love be with us now.
