24. A Little While

1 “A little while,”—be brave, be strong,
Hold fast the hope, He’ll not be long;
For His great love will never rest
Until He folds us to His breast.

Refrain:
“A little while!” “A little while!”
Oh, blessed hope, “A little while!”
Then free from care and toil we’ll rise,
To walk with Him in Paradise.

2 “A little while” to do and bear,
And one another’s load to share;
The watch to keep, the lamp to trim,
And then, forever be with Him. [Refrain]

3 “A little while!” how swiftly sped,
So brief a night we shall not dread;
But e’en the darkest hour beguile,
With that sweet word, “A little while.” [Refrain]

4 “A little while!” oh, who would grieve,
This scene of pain and death to leave,
To mount on eagle’s wing and soar
To rest with Him forevermore? [Refrain]

5 “A little while!” “A little while!”
We may not pass another stile
Till with our own beloved we meet,
Around our dear Redeemer’s feet. [Refrain]
