935. Sing Me the Song

1 Sing me the song that tells of Jesus,
That is the song which has music's sweetest tone,
Coming from heaven like perfume on breezes
Fills all my soul with the joy that is His own:
Bears me in spirit to bright realms of glory,
Holds me enraptur'd with visions of delight;
Gives me to hear what the saint dar'd not utter
When he return'd to the shadow and the night.

Refrain:
Sing me the song that tells of Jesus,
Sing to this heart and bid its throbbing cease,
Sing me that song for it chastens my spirit,
Calming my soul with its magic spell of peace.

2 This song has wings like eagle's pinions,
Oft has it borne me to God's own paradise,
There I have sung with angels in chorus,
Knows not my soul of a trance of joy like this:
But when returning to life's din and battle,
Spells still are o'er me and sounds are in mine ear,
Taking the glare from the earthly and fleeting,
Filling my life with what the angels hear. [Refrain]

3 Worthy the Lamb Who died to save us,
Worthy the Lamb, let it sound thro' earth and sky,
'Worthy the Lamb' sing the angels in chorus,
'Worthy the Lamb' our redemption draweth nigh:
Worthy of honour from highest archangels,
Worthy of glory the universe around,
Worthy of majesty, pow'r, adoration,
Worthy the Lamb, the lov'd and lost are found. [Refrain]
