Scripture References:
st. = Gal. 5:22-23

Based on the well-known listing of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, this song is almost entirely a direct quotation from Scripture. The first three lines come directly from the New International Version, and the fourth serves as a summary of the Scripture passage. The text of this short Scripture song was prepared by Dale Grotenhuis (PHH 4), the composer of the tune. (Other passages listing spiritual fruits are 2 Cor. 6:6; Eph. 4:2; 5:9; Col. 3:12-15.)

Liturgical Use:
Pentecost; weddings; any worship service that stresses Christian character and lifestyle. The song can function on its own as a chorus or response, or it can be used as a frame around another song (for example, 222).

Tune Information:

Dale Grotenhuis composed ROBERT in 1985 as a setting for this text in the Psalter Hymnal. The tune is named after Grotenhuis's second son. A simple but effective chorus, it should not be rushed.
