80. Holy love

1 Holy Love, from heaven descended,
We long to feel thy kindling flame!
Thou hast earth and heaven blended,
O Love that out of heaven came.
As the wild wind bloweth,
As descends the river,
Kindness freely floweth
In the heart forever.
Thou hast thrown a smile of beauty,
All o'er the meadow, hill and grove.
Thou has quickened us to duty,
And thou hast warmed our hearts to love.

2 Thine the gift of smiling flowers,
And thine the lofty mountain pine;
Thine the fruit-tree's golden shower,
And thine the close entwining vine.
As the wild wind bloweth,
As descends the river,
Kindness freely floweth,
In the heart forever.
Stay thou with us; still replenish
Our kindly hearts with warmest love;
Discord and dissension banish,
O Loving Spirit from above.
