Lord Jesus Christ, sun of righteousness,
in a world that so often seems cold and heartless,
your grace breaks in with warmth and light.
How grateful we are for the privilege of your call
to us to reflect this warmth and light as mirrors of your grace.
May we reflect this light so that many will see it
and bring praise to you, the true light of the world. Amen.

A Petitionary Prayer

Dim in knowledge, we call to you.
Christ, be our light.
Our hearts are too often cold.
Shine in our hearts.
The way forward is too often obscure.
Shine through the darkness.
A lot of lights in the world are going out.
Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today. Amen.
— Cornelius Plantinga, Jr.
