Composer Information

James A. Kriewald is the organist and director of the adult and junior choirs at Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester, Virginia, where he has served since 1971. Kriewald has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, (Instrumental and Vocal Music), a Masters of Music in Organ Performance, and a PhD in Historical Musicology. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, and served for a time as the Director of Music and Youth at Grace Episcopal Church in Madison. He retired in 2008 from his position as Vice President of Research, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness at Shenandoah University in Winchester. Kriewald is an interdenominationally-published composer, and is frequently called upon for retreats, consultations, and workshops in church music.
