23. When I ask God to hear my cry

When I ask God to hear my cry,
the wicked fear and flee;
so swift is prayer to reach the sky,
so near is God to me.

In God, most holy, just and true,
I have reposed my trust;
nor will I dread what others do;
My fears are calmed and hushed.

Your solemn vows are with me, Lord,
and you receive my praise;
I'll sing, "How faithful is your word!
How righteous all your ways!"
