Text: | The Mothers of Our Land |
Author: | Edith Sanford Tillotson |
Tune: | [Let others sing of heroes] |
Composer: | Ira B. Wilson |
1 Let others sing of heroes,
Who win undying fame,
Who on the scroll of glory
Have gained an honored name;
But we will sing the praises
Of her whose daily life
Holds oft unnoticed triumph
O’er petty cares and strife.
Refrain:
Then sing the praise and glory
Of that brave and loyal band;
With love and honor hail them
The mothers of our land.
2 Let others tell the glory
That beckons far afield,
And bow to those who conquer,
To who all nations yield;
But we will tell the greatness
Of one who never roams,
But keeps sweet peace unbroken
In loving hearts and homes. [Refrain]
3 Let others crown with laurel
The victor in his pride,
And give him laud and honor
And worldly fame beside;
But we will crown the tresses
Of each beloved head,
Untouched by gold or jewels,
But wreathed with love instead. [Refrain]
