12. I Believe the Old, Old Story

1 I’m happy in the service of the King,
My heart and voice unite His praise to sing,
My soul doth bless His name,
He is every day the same,
Loud let the hallelujah chorus ring!

Refrain:
I believe “the old, old story,”
Of God’s love so strong and pure,
And I’m going on to glory,
For His promises are sure.

2 But there’s a work on earth for me to do,
I must to all my duties here be true,
And though sometimes I’m tried,
And beset on every side,
I know the mighty Christ will bring me through. [Refrain]

3 So, looking up toward the shining light,
Faith sees the saints above, arrayed in white,
I’m strengthened by His grace,
I shall see Him face to face,
Who sweetly saves and keeps me day and night. [Refrain]

4 Then, let us give our hearts to Him today,
And labor in His vineyard while we may,
Soon will this life be o’er,
Soon we’ll reach the golden shore,
Where with our God forever we will stay. [Refrain]
