Text Information:

This Christmas hymn gives us a rare glimpse of Martin Luther as a father creating verses for his children to sing at home on Christmas Eve for a retelling of Luke 2:8–14. The first three stanzas paraphrase the angel’s song, and the final two provide the human response.
