194. Where the Curtain is Lifted

1. They say there's a land where the saints gather home,
Who out of our lives here have drifted;
Where life's vexing problems shall yield up their sum,
And problem and mystery shall nevermore come,
Wondrous land where the curtain is lifted.

Chorus:
O that land, blessed land,
Oft described by the seers heaven gifted,
How we sigh for a sight of that shadowless shore,
Where the dark pall of sorrow shall fall nevermore,
Blessed land where the curtain is lifted.

2. Then welcome, thou land of the unfading flow'rs,
Earth's night for thy glory be shifted;
We think of the might of thy world to come pow'rs,
The calm of thy peaceful and joy laden hours
Blessed land where the curtain is lifted. [Chorus]

3. Here dark are the clouds which now roll overhead
Tho' light thro' their folding is sifted
And deep are the waters that cover our dead;
Yet, bright is the promise; thy prophets have said,
There's a land where the curtain is lifted. [Chorus]

4. Beyond thy bright rising, beyond the dark vail
Grown thin by the glory oft rifted,
The "all's well" we hear of the deck watches' hail,
The last furl we see of the storm beaten sail,
In the port where the curtain is lifted. [Chorus]
