9641. Thou Man Of Sorrows, Hail!

1 Thou Man of Sorrows, hail!
Receive my adoration:
On Thee the Father laid
Grief for my consolation.
Thanks for Thy anguish, Lord,
Bonds, stripes endured by Thee;
Thanks, Lord for all Thy grief,
Thy last sad agony!

2 Thy conflict is our crown;
Thy death our life in Heaven;
Lord, by Thy bonds to us
Is endless freedom given.
Thy cross our solace is,
Thy wounds salvation give;
Thy blood our ransom price,
By this we sinners live.

3 O may Thy wounds, we pray,
Be to our sins for healing;
Sustain us at the last,
Hope through Thy death revealing;
O Jesu! grant to us
That, through Thine agony,
Thy sufferings, cross and pain,
We ne’er forsaken be.
