8836. The Lord Is My Shepherd

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,
He leadeth me night and day,
In pastures of green, by waters so sweet,
He guides me in wisdom’s way.

Refrain:
O Shepherd divine, sweet Shepherd of mine,
Lead me in the right way;
To Heaven above, where Thee I can love,
Through one eternal day.

2 When to the dark valley of death I come,
No evil then will I fear;
Thy rod and Thy staff will comfort me there,
And make my way bright and clear. [Refrain]

3 The table is spread, and my soul shall feast,
And never know want or care,
Anointed with oil, my head it shall be,
My cup filled with pleasure there. [Refrain]

4 Forever to dwell in the house of God,
The shadows all past and gone,
To Jesus my king, my praises I’ll sing,
While ages roll on, and on. [Refrain]
