14791. The Joy-Life

1 There’s a world joy and gladness,
And its gladness we impart
In dispelling gloom and sadness
From the weary, troubled heart.
God, who loves us, gives the blessing—
Pure and precious joys in Him
For the soul tow’rd Heaven pressing,
For the life all cleansed from sin.

Refrain:
Live the joy-life day by day,
Learn to labor, watch and pray;
Claim your grace and strength from Jesus;
Live the joy-life day by day.

2 Clouds for moments veil the glory
Of the joy-life from the sky,
Yet the sun is ever shining—
We may find it if we try;
Jesus knows and loves us ever,
And in Him this joy we find;
Neither life nor death can sever
Precious ties so strong and kind. [Refrain]

3 Daily duties are but blessings,
Sometimes hard and drear they seem,
But while gladly onward pressing,
Soon we’ll catch the glory-gleam;
Never task too hard or heavy
For His strength to help along;
Never step so sad or weary,
But will brighten with a song. [Refrain]
