12721. Thanks, Father, That Again Our Feet

1 Thanks, Father, that again our feet
These sacred courts may press;
Oh, let Thy Spirit with us meet,
And all our efforts bless.

2 How feeble, Lord, the noblest song
Our youthful hearts can raise!
Be Thou the theme, and sweet and strong
Shall swell our hymn of praise.

3 Thy hand, through all our days and years
Has been our shield and guide;
Through light and shade, through smiles and tears,
What could we need beside?

4 And to Thy love, Thy sacred care,
The future hours we give,
All hallowed by the breath of prayer,
Since by that breath we live.

5 O blessed Savior! in Thy name
Let prayer and praise be giv’n,
And safely, from this mortal frame,
Conduct our souls to Heav’n!
