1146. The Light From Calvary

1 Wondrous light from Calvary,
Every wandering one may see,
For ’tis kindly, brightly gleaming each day;
With the eye of faith behold,
And be guided to the fold,
From its blessèd refuge never to stray.

Refrain:
Wondrous light from Calvary,
Thro’ each day my pilot be!
Safely o’er the rugged heights,
Thro’ the dark and cheerless nights,
Lead me home, O Calvary’s wondrous light!

2 Glorious light from Calvary,
Oh! how precious unto me
Since I saw its gentle beckoning gleam!
I was bowing ’neath a load
On sin’s bleak and rugged road,
When it pierced the gloom in beauty supreme. [Refrain]

3 Fadeless light from Calvary,
For the millions shining free,
Flash it forth upon the desolate waste;
Precious souls are sinking there,
In the depths of dark despair,
Will you, Christian, to their rescue then haste? [Refrain]
