Text: | I Looked To Jesus |
Author: | Daniel W. Whittle |
Tune: | BRAUNSCHWEIG |
Composer: | James McGranahan |
Media: | MIDI file |
1 I looked to Jesus in my sin,
My sin and woe confessing,
Undone and lost, I came to Him,
I sought and found a blessing.
Refrain:
I look to Him, to Him I looked,
’Tis true, His Whosoever;
He looked on me, on me He looked,
And we were one forever.
2 I looked to Jesus on the cross,
For me I saw Him dying;
God’s word believed, that all my sins
Were there upon Him lying. [Refrain]
3 I looked to Jesus there on high
From death upraised to glory;
I trusted in His power to save,
Believed the old, old story. [Refrain]
4 He looked on me, O look of love!
My heart by it was broken,
And with that look of love He gave
The Holy Spirit’s token. [Refrain]
5 Now one with Christ, I find my peace
In Him to be abiding,
And in His love for all my need,
In childlike faith confiding. [Refrain]

Notes: | I looked to Him; He looked on me; and we were one for ever. I trusted to Him, and therefore I am saved. If you can say that from your heart and the Holy Spirit bears witness that what you say is true, you need not raise any question about your new birth. If thou art trusting in Jesus, it is well with thy soul in time and to eternity. Charles H. Spurgeon Metropolitan Tabernacle February 29, 1880 |
