103. He Giveth Power to the Faint

1 Hast thou not known, hast thou not heard,
That God, the Lord of all,
Who faileth not nor weary grows,
Upholdeth all that fall.
O sorely tried and troubled heart,
To Him bring thy complaint;
To weary ones He giveth strength
And pow'r unto the faint.

2 Lift up your eyes, behold on high,
The radiant worlds afar;
His word is pledged that none shall fail,
He nameth ev'ry star.
O doubting heart, in faith draw nigh,
The children's portion claim;
He hath redeemed from sin and death,
He calleth thee by name.

3 His word divine shall be thy guide,
His love a sweet constraint;
O trust in Him who giveth grace
And power to the faint.
Wait, thou, on god, the Source, alone,
Whence all thy comfort springs;
And thus thou shalt thy strength renew,
And mount on eagle's wings.
