Tune: | HEAVENLY FRIEND |
1 Baptized into Thy name most holy,
O Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
I claim a place, though weak and lowly,
Among Thy seed, Thy chosen host;
With Christ I'm buried, dead to sin;
Thy Spirit now doth dwell within.
2 My loving Father here doth take me
To be in truth His child and heir;
My Savior verily doth make me
The fruit of all His sorrows share;
My Comforter will comfort me
When threat'ning clouds around I see.
3 And I in turn have vowed to fear Thee,
To love and to obey Thee, Lord;
Yea, I have ventured, drawing near Thee,
To be Thine own and keep Thy Word,
Renouncing Satan, world and sin,
Thy Spirit prompting me within.
4 My faithful God, Thou failest never,
Thy covenant abides for aye;
O cast me not away forever,
If I from Thee should go astray,
Whene'er my soul hath been defiled,
Do Thou in grace restore Thy child.
5 Again to Thee I gladly offer
My soul, my body, heart and all;
O sanctify what here I proffer
And ev'ry faithless deed forestall;
Keep Thou me wholly as Thine own,
And let me do Thy will alone.
