330. Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates

1 Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates,
Behold, the King of glory waits.
The King of kings is drawing near,
The Savior of the world is here.
His grace and truth salvation bring;
O let us, then, rejoice and sing.
We praise Thee, Father, now;
Creator, wise art Thou.

2 The Lord is just, a Helper tried,
And meekness doth in Him abide.
His royal crown is holiness;
His scepter, pity in distress.
The end of all our woe He brings,
And all the earth in gladness sings:
We praise Thee, Savior, now;
Our mighty Lord art Thou.

3 O happy land, O city blest,
Where Christ the ruler is confessed!
O joyous hearts and happy homes
To which the King of glory comes!
The cloudless sun of joy is He
Who sets the heart from sorrow free.
We praise Thee, Spirit, now;
Our Comforter art Thou.

4 Fling wide the portals of your heart
And set its chambers well apart
From earthly care and tainted joy
And be devout in God's employ.
So shall your Sov'reign enter in,
And you a nobler life begin.
We praise Thee, God of grace,
And long to see Thy face.

5 O Savior, come! We open wide
Our hearts to Thee; in us abide,
Let us Thine inner presence feel,
Thy kindliness to us reveal.
Thy Holy Spirit lead us on
Till we the crown of life have won.
Eternal praise and fame
We offer to Thy name.

Amen.
