Text: | Almighty God, I Humbly Ask |
Author: | J. H. Kuhlmann |
Tune: | CHORLEY |
Composer: | S. Reay |
1 Almighty God, I humbly ask
That I may know my daily task,
To do Thy holy will.
Be Thou, throughout the journey's length,
O Lord, my never-failing strength,
In days of good or ill.
2 Help me, that I may never shirk,
But always look upon my work
As coming, Lord, from Thee;
And may, in doing well my part,
This holy thought inspire my heart:
Thou, Father, sendest me!
3 Then equal to the noblest strife
Shall be the lot of lowly life,
Which ne'er from duty swerves;
And he, who self has sacrificed,
Is walking in the steps of Christ,
Whose love forever serves.
